In the Dolnooharska table, near the Ceske stredohori, by the river Ohre. Already in ancient times the seat of Germans and Celts, first written mention in 1272. From the beginning of the 14th century guarded by the castle Klapy (Hazmburk) of the Zajic family from Hazmburk. Their fortress in Libochovice was later acquired by Jan Popel from Lobkovice and in the years 1560 – 1564 reconstructed into a Renaissance chateau. Jan Evangelista Purkyne, an important Czech scientist, was born here in 1869.
