The metropolis of Western Bohemia, the fourth largest city of the Czech Republic. Between Plaska upland and Svihovska highland, at the confluence of the Mze, Radbuza, Uhlava and Uslava rivers. Industrial and brewing city, European capital of culture in 2015. Home of the world-famous Pilsen Brewery, whose pale lager Pilsner Urquell is one of the most famous Czech products. Birthplace of actor Miroslav Hornicek, singer Karel Gott and industrialist Emil ritter Skoda, founder of the engineering factory of the same name, one of the largest in Europe at the time.
